Sorry, I don’t remember. The photo was taken on
the Mel
Douglas dance weekend at the Langstone Cliff Hotel (Dawlish Warren) in
April 2003, and if anyone can tell me I will be grateful for the info.
Mel
frequently engaged up-and-coming Ballroom/Latin dancers to provide a
little variety and entertainment during the evening’s proceedings,
including Vincent Simone & Flavia Cacace
(whatever happened to
them?!!!), but more often professional brother-and-sister
couple Simon
& Heidi Cruwys were on hand for the weekend’s teaching sessions
and
evening cabaret.
In fact, another photo (
available on the
Internet) that includes Mel’s stage set (coloured umbrellas
this time)
features Simon & Heidi – but as I don’t have the copyright on
that
one, I won’t use it on my web site. One weekend Simon
& Heidi
were not available for Dawlish... because some of us were in
Bournemouth instead, watching them win their UK Closed Professional
Ballroom title!
